Campaigns
A campaign holds everything for one game: its rules, story, places, maps, characters, monsters, encounters, items and sessions.
- For the GM
How to use it
- Create one from the home screen with Create Campaign, or open one from My Campaigns.
- The left-hand list switches between the campaign's parts: Overview, Story, Locations, Maps, Characters, NPCs, Monsters, Encounters, Items / Rewards, Images, Rules and Sessions. On a phone the list is in the menu.
- Players and Schedule are marked Soon: they are not available yet.
Step by step
- Tap Create Campaign.
- Choose Start From Scratch, Use Adventure (an editable copy of a built-in adventure) or Quick Start Adventure.
- Pick the ruleset and its options, then create it.
- Fill in the Overview: name, description, Player Introduction and GM Introduction.
- Add locations, then everything else, in the Start Here order.
Overview and Introductions
- Edit on the Overview sets the name, description and both introductions.
- The Player Introduction is what every player reads when they first join a session. The GM Introduction is for you only.
- Visibility in the same editor sets the campaign's house rule for Fog of War, Remember Explored Areas and Share Party Vision.
Locations
- A location is a place in the story: a village, a tower, a cave.
- A location can have a map. Characters are always in a location; each location runs its own Free Play or combat.
- NPCs can be "usually found at" a location, and encounters belong to one.
Story, Images and Rules
- Story holds the plot steps. Encounters can be Triggered By or Advance a story step.
- Images stores portraits, map art and item pictures for this campaign.
- Rules shows the ruleset and its options, such as how ability scores are made.
Important rules
- An adventure is a normal campaign you can edit; nothing is locked.
- Sessions never change your campaign content: they keep their own copy of HP, items and positions.
Common questions
Can I change the rules later?
Some options can be changed in Rules. The ruleset itself is chosen when the campaign is created.
Where do I start a session?
Start Session at the top of the campaign, or from Sessions.
